Find A Realtor

05 Sep

Step 2: Find a Realtor that will work for you.

I highly recommend that you find a Realtor that is a Buyer’s Agent. Why? Because you want a Realtor that has your best interests in mind. Please look at my August 16th post to find out what you don’t want to do – Buy a house from the agent that has listed the house. You need representation.

So how do you find a Realtor? Go to Open Houses and meet Realtors. Ask a friend or family member. Of course you can always find a couple of Realtors who advertise on billboards but my experience tells me that you won’t be working with that agent but most likely with one of their assistants. You want a Realtor that is interested in YOU.

Once you have some names of local Realtors, google their name. When you have done your online research, call the agents and set up an appointment to meet. In one short meeting, you can tell if you like and trust the Realtor. If you do, let them know it and commit to working with that Realtor.

Most people don’t know that a Buyer’s Agent gets paid by the Seller of the property! Yes, that is right. As a Buyer you have the best of both worlds. You can buy a house and not pay a penny to be represented by your very own Realtor!
